I still have about four books left on my backlog of reviews (more to add soon, I think), but because I do not want to bore you all with just those posts, let’s do a combo breaker and answer this meme I got from Chachic, Janice, Angie and Nomes. :)
I should be writing my novel but you know how I love procrastinating sometimes? Maybe next year I should be a NaNoRebel and write a year’s worth of blog posts (or something like that) for NaNoWriMo. Hm.

1. Book I am currently reading:
The Curse of the Wendigo by Rick Yancey. I was semi-bullied into reading this (haha, hi, Aaron and Tricia!), but if they did not do that, I probably would not have started reading this anytime soon. I really liked The Monstrumologist so jumping in to this one soon enough after reading that was actually a good idea because the characters were still fresh to me. So far this has been creepier than the first book, but also quite funny and sometimes heartwarming.
Also, Hallowed by Cynthia Hand (!!!). :) Got this from Netgalley and I’m reading it slow so I would get all the Tucker goodness. Seriously, if you ever read a paranormal romance novel ever again, pick Unearthly. It’s very, very good.
2. Last book I finished:
The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler. Thanks to Pinoy Book Tours for having this on hand and squeezing me in the tour. :D

3. Next book I want to read:
Falling Together by Marisa de los Santos. I just got this my TBR, and it’s been calling out to me for a while. Hmm. Although I think I may have to read a classic novel to finish some challenges, but I really want something comforting amidst the novel writing stress. So let’s see. :)
4. Last book I bought:
Fury by Shirley Marr. My friend Katia went to Sydney last October and because we know Australian books are just awesome, I asked if she could get me a copy of this. And she found me one. :) Yay. As expected, it was expensive, but it’s not everyday I get to buy a book from Australia. :)
5. Last book I was given:
Protection for Hire by Camy Tang. Okay this one I got from Netgalley too, but since I am on the author’s street team (you should join it, too), I knew about this way back and was expecting to receive an ebook review for this. :) Plus, I got an email that Zondervan has auto-approved me as a reviewer in Netgalley. I’m not sure if everyone gets that, but it’s nice to get that email. :) I cannot wait to read Camy’s newest book.
This was a fun meme to do in between posts, right? I haven’t come up with reviews the past week and I’m really behind. I got some Aussie books recently too and they’re really expensive! Around P1k for each book. Sigh, but so much loveliness inside so they’re worth it. Can’t wait to see what you think of Fury. Can I please, please borrow it when you’re done? :D
Yes, you can borrow! :)
Man, I need awesome friends who are going to Australia (or NZ) to buy books for me! Looking forward to your reviews of these books. And you’re winning me over to considering reading UNEARTHLY… and I’m usually wary of the YA angel/triangle/ paranormal stories these days.
I took the cue from Chachic, who got her first Australian books from her friend who came back from Australia. Next time I hear someone is going, I’m going to save up to get more. Fishpondworld will ship for free here, too, but FURY would take 8 days before it could be shipped and my friend found it in a day. :)
Also, UNEARTHLY! Yes, it’s good. I’m not a fan of the angel/triangle trope too, but this one is just better than the rest. :) The heroine is not stupid and the triangle is actually quite good, especially in HALLOWED. :)
Yeah, if I’m desperate, I’ll go the fishpondworld route. My last order took them over a month and they canceled 2 of the 3 books I ordered (canceled after said month! The whole time I thought the books had been shipped and were just taking a long time because of customs). So: not so happy with my first experience with them.
If I see UNEARTHLY, I will grab it.
Ack they did that? Why did they cancel it? I remember ordering some CDs from NZ a couple of years back and they made it here, but I can’t remember if I got it via Fishpond. Still, what happened to you was a hassle. :/
Yes, grab it! I finished HALLOWED last night and it was so good. :) Definitely not like the other paranormal romances I’ve read. :)
You and Nomes with the UNEARTHLY rec! It wouldn’t normally be my thing either. Maybe I will have to check it out. I just love this meme I think it’s my turn to do it this week.
FURY straight from Australia? That is pretty awesome. My copy of SIX IMPOSSIBLE THINGS from Dymock’s is still circulating. *happy*
UNEARTHLY really took me by surprise this year. I’m almost done with HALLOWED and it gets better. :) I hope you get to read it soon — I’d love to know what you think.
Yes, all the way from Sydney! It’s twice as expensive as how much I would usually pay for a paperback, but I think it’s worth it. :)
oh, nice to get a book from Australia :) I am curious about what you will think of Fury :D
I got Hallowed too ~ and I really liked it as well. (Have to actually sit down and write a review one day :)
I hope to get to read FURY before the year ends. :D
I finished HALLOWED last night! What a good book. :) I need to gather my thoughts before writing my review, but I am definitely getting a finished copy of that (and UNEARTHLY, because I still don’t have a finished copy of that either :D).
