Terrific Three

True to form, I almost forgot what today’s date meant.

And then, I saw blog birthdays from other friends‘ blogs, I thought: Wait. My blog’s birthday is also on January. I checked the calendar and then gasp, there!

Happy third birthday, One More Page!

Three years blogging about books. Imagine that. I’m quite proud and amazed that I lasted this long, even if I kind of had a slump by late 2012. I am not going to say that I’m surprised that I’m still blogging about books because the surprise is long gone, and I really don’t think I’ll stop anytime soon. So, to celebrate my blog’s third birthday, I have three blogging confessions.

  1. One of the reasons why I started to book blog was so I can receive ARCs. I’m kind of ashamed to admit that that was the reasons why I started a book blog. I received a couple of free books when I used to post reviews on my personal blog, and I thought, maybe if I start a book blog, I’ll receive more free books! Three years down the road, the number of free books I received are…well, I don’t count, but they’re not a lot for sure. Perhaps it’s also my thing because I don’t actually go out and request books and I don’t always accept books offered to me because I don’t have that much time to actually go through them (and I’m quite picky). But three years down, I realize that it doesn’t matter if I receive any. I may have realized this a year ago, when I stopped pining for books that I wanted that other people get for free, and instead, started filtering the books I acquire on my own. While I would still appreciate receiving ARCs and free books, I won’t mind if I don’t because I still have a ton of books to read through and I don’t think that pile is getting smaller anytime soon. :P
  2. I feel like I’m an online introvert. A friend told me that being an introvert doesn’t necessarily mean you’re shy and reserved, but social interaction can make you tired easily, unlike extroverts who gets energy from being with people. I tweeted this once and my friends all disagreed that I am an online introvert, but honestly? Sometimes, I feel that online interaction is exhausting. Can’t someone be an online introvert but an extrovert IRL? That’s possible, right? I feel like this explains why I have a hard time keeping in touch sometimes. So if I suddenly disappear from a Twitter conversation or I don’t reply to a blog post or a comment immediately, or if I don’t really comment on other blogs, it’s really just that. (But I feel like my friends will disagree with me again on this. :P)
  3. I don’t think I’m going to stop reading or blogging anytime soon. Sure, I haven’t been blogging that much, but I haven’t felt the need to give up on this yet. I don’t know when I’ll get tired of this, but right now, I feel like as long as I have books, I’ll find a way to write about them. And as long as I have this blog (or any place to write about them, really), I won’t stop reading. Or acquiring books. That’s not bad, right? :)

One last thing. This is meant to be an advance birthday present, and then I realized it arrived on my blog’s birthday, so it could also be my blog’s birthday gift. I mean, I will use it to blog anyway, so that counts, right? Like what I tweeted yesterday, no more excuses not to write! Happy birthday, blog, and advance happy birthday to me! This will curb my book hoarding for a while, but no regrets. Hello, Rylie. :)

Rylie

Many, many, many thanks to everyone who has visited, left a comment, subscribed to my feed, sent me books, gifted me books and told me they read my blog even if they don’t comment. Thank you so much for including my blog in your everyday-ish visits together with other sides like ones for american made church chairs, and I hope you won’t get tired of future bookish ramblings. :) Here’s to more books, blogs, and bookish events in the years to come. Cheers!

I’ve grown tired of blogging late last year. I think the F2Fs filled that void though. :D
But I miss it now. I may just reopen it sometime soon. Happy anniversary!

p.s. bit weird seeing my 2 year-old comment there. heh.

    • Aw. I honestly think I’m too talkative not to have a blog. :D Open your blog again! Remember when Aaron said that you were one of his favorite reviewers too? :P

Oh and yeah, you left a comment there. Haha. Would you look at that!

Late reply but I was just browsing Google Reader for the first time in months and remembered I commented here. Favorite reviewer?! When and where was that??

        And it’s actually a 3 year-old comment. lol!

  2. Happy 3rd blogiversary, Tina! I may not have read all your posts the past year, but I’m always happy to see a new post from you on my feed. Since I don’t blog that often anymore, it makes me happy to see Filipino book bloggers and reading advocates staying the course.:)
